I’m Paper Mâcheying Over Here!

The SHE side…

The colors don’t really show through too well. But this is MY fish! *proudly slams fist on chest* Yayyyy!  isn’t she puuuurdy? Actually, I totally re-did the eye. At first I made it look cartoonish (because this version is not cartoonish at all) with both eyes showing all googly like.

But it was too freaky to look at. The Captain said a normal person would not paint both eyes on one side. I told him a normal person would not make a paper mâché fish and paint it will anchored in rocky swells. Make that, a normal person would not make a paper mâché fish. Period. A normal person. What is a normal person anyways?

Want to see the other side of the fishy?

The HE side!

Ta-daaaa! The other side! I call this side the HE side because he just looks more manly. Has war paint behind the eyes and tiger stripes. But the Captain said he looked like a she. But a dyke she. A hot dyke she. I thought he was odd to think THIS fish looked like a hot lesbian.

What’s wrong with him? OK, so his head is pink. The Captain’s head is pink too and I don’t accuse him of looking like a lesbian.

***

It took us over a week to sail back from Cabo to La Paz. We spent 4 days huddled in a bay. There was some bad winds. Wicked winds. The Captain’s back was out. And I had killer headaches. Damn periods. Stupid estrogen drop. But during this wind delay I created that cute little hot lesbian fish. I need to find a name for it. Pat? Heh heh heh.

***

I’m doing good in my controlled drinking thing. 8 days without touching a drop. Its Carnaval in La Paz right now. Eeeks! But honestly, I don’t want a life dry of any kind of enhanced pleasures. I just don’t want to over-do it and drink every single friggin’ day. Today is Mardi Gras. The day to dive in and indulge. Not that I’ll be respecting Lent or anything like that but… look outside! The lights! The music! The clamato juice! The masked faces everywhere!

Time to have fun and enjoy la vida loca!

About Marie

I'm in that zone. That nowhere zone. In between something I've been doing for the past number of years and something else, I don't know what yet. Until I do find that next thing I'll be making paper mache fish and playing with my paddle board. I obviously take life very seriously.

Aw I bet Carnaval is awesome! And I love the she-he fish. I think it's adorable.

  3. Nikki Rules says:

Actually the pink face was supposed to be orange… long stupid story! In the sense of how stupid it would make me look to tell it! ;)

  4. Nikki Rules says:

The parade was absolutely incredible! I cried it was so beautiful and happy!

  5. Vinny C says:

Good job! Just wrapped up Carnival here in Trinidad & Tobago yesterday. Thank goodness that only happens once a year!

If you come across one of those “normal” persons you mentioned, take a picture & share it with the rest of us. I'm curious myself.

  6. Nikki Rules says:

In high school my best friend and I had a t-shirt with big bold letters saying “NORML” we never knew what that meant but we decided it was the closest to normal we'd ever be! And we both laugh hysterically when my doctor (when I sprained my ankle) said I'd be back to normal in no time. We knew I'd never be anywhere near normal!

:o ) And yes, thank goodness carnavals happen only once a year!

Now, the fishy–LOVE LOVE LOVE! It's really gorgeous! Love that you have a him/her side.

When I was in like 4th grade or so, we had to make a fishy, and it was one of my very favorite projects. Your fishy brought all those memories back, and now I'd love to try it again. :)

  10. Nikki Rules says:

Yay for Jewels! :) I love everything about fish. I love drawing them, painting them, eating them, looking at them under the water. Fish are so cool, I'm gad you liked doing one too!

Thanks for the visit, I'll go check your blog out now!

  11. Mynx says:

I adore your fishy. Eyes are hard! One of the first things I did as paint a paper mache' rabbit. It has no eyes but plenty of flowers and spiders.

Keep on arting. I just love seeing it

  12. Pat Tillett says:

Are you saying I'm a lesbian?
That's a nice looking fish. You are multi-talented my friend! Your headaches are one of a hundred reasons why I'm SO DARN happy NOT to be a woman…
I remember “Pat” from SNL! Right?

  13. Awesome story! CHEERS to you, sister. ;)

  14. I love the Griffin & Sabine series too!! Did you know that there are actually 3 more in the series after the first three? They are:
    Alexandria
    The Gryphon
    Morning Star

It continues the story! I absolutely love them too, taking out each letter, studying each postcard and it's art, yup, LOVE.
